A futures trading simulator for teens

Futures Frontier is a futures trading simulator for teens ages 13 and up. It uses fictional commodities, such as Space Wheat, with made-up prices. Players choose to be a farmer who hedges a crop or a speculator who takes risk. Each trading day, gains and losses settle in the account, just as they do in real futures markets.

Risk lesson required

Leverage makes futures risky, so the simulator stays locked until the player completes Futures, Margin and Leverage. In addition, rewards in the game come from finishing missions thoughtfully, not from taking bigger risks.

What teens learn

  • How long and short positions gain and lose
  • How hedging can lock in a price for a producer
  • Why margin is a deposit, not a down payment
  • How leverage magnifies results in both directions
  • What triggers a margin call

This is a simulation for learning only. There are no real accounts, brokers or money.
