A savings interest game for kids

Bank Explorer is a free savings interest game for kids that turns a boring idea into a visible one. Players put the same pretend money in a piggy bank and a savings account, choose a monthly saving amount and then skip ahead year by year. Each month, the bank adds interest, and the chart shows the balance climbing.

What kids learn

  • Saving a little every month adds up
  • Interest is money the bank pays you for saving
  • Compound interest means earning interest on past interest
  • You cannot withdraw more than your balance

The game uses a 4% yearly rate divided into monthly payments. Real banks set their own rates and fees, and rates change over time. In the United States, deposits at banks insured by the FDIC are protected up to legal limits.
